Abstract

In May 2022 in Palopo City there was an inflation of 0.41 percent with Consumer Prices Index (CPI) of 110.14 percent.

Inflation occurs due to an increase in prices which is indicated by an increase in prices most of the expenditure group price indices. Of the eleven Groups Expenditures, seven of which experienced inflation, namely: Food Group, beverages and tobacco by 0.87 percent; Residential Group, Water, Electricity, and household fuel by 0.18 percent; Equipment Group, Equipment and Household Routine Maintenance by 0.11 percent; Group Transportation by 0.10 percent; Recreation, Sports and Culture Group by 0.05 percent; Food and Beverage Provision/Restaurant Group by 0.59 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 0.06 percent. One group, namely the Clothing and Footwear Group, experienced deflation of 0.09 percent. Meanwhile, the other three Guilds did not experience inflation.

The inflation rate for the calendar year is 2.38 percent and the inflation rate for the year to year is 3.56 percent.
