Abstract

In May 2025, Palopo Municipality recorded a year-on-year (y-o-y) inflation rate of 1.08 percent, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) at 107.80.
Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices, as shown by the rising accumulated price indices of several expenditure groups. Year-on-year, in May 2025, several expenditure groups experienced inflation: Food, beverages, and tobacco by 1.07 percent; clothing and footwear by 1.14 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel by 0.93 percent; furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance by 0.52 percent; health by 0.48 percent; transportation by 0.65 percent; recreation, sport, and culture by 0.04 percent; education by 2.04 percent; provision of food and beverages/restaurants by 0.16 percent; and personal care and miscellaneous services by 5.98 percent. Meanwhile, the information, communication, and financial services group experienced deflation of 0.59 percent.
The month-to-month (m-t-m) inflation rate for May 2025 was -0.10 percent (experiencing deflation), and the calendar year/year-to-date (y-t-d) inflation rate was 1.54 percent.
