The Development of the Consumer Price Index / Inflation in Palopo Municipality, January 2025

In January 2025, the Municipality of Palopo experienced a year-on-year (yoy) deflation of 0.01 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.69.

Inflation occurred due to price increases, as indicated by the rising aggregate index of several expenditure groups. On a year-on-year basis, in January 2025, several expenditure groups experienced inflation: the food, beverages, and tobacco group by 3.12 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 0.64 percent; the household equipment, appliances, and routine household maintenance group by 0.49 percent; the health group by 0.30 percent; the transportation group by 0.86 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.23 percent; the education group by 2.04 percent; the food and beverage provision/restaurants group by 1.56 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 4.09 percent.

Meanwhile, the information, communication, and financial services group experienced deflation of 0.82 percent, and the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group also recorded deflation of 10.40 percent.

The month-to-month (mtm) inflation rate for January 2025 recorded a deflation of 1.38 percent, while the calendar year inflation/year-to-date (ytd) inflation stood at -1.38 percent (deflation).
