Abstract

In April 2024, in the city of Palopo, there was a year-on-year (yoy) inflation of 3.23 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.87.

Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the rise in the accumulation of price indices for several expenditure groups. Year-on-year, in April 2024, several expenditure groups experienced inflation: Food, beverage, and tobacco group by 7.79 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.70 percent; household equipment, appliances, and routine household maintenance group by 0.56 percent; health group by 0.02 percent; transportation group by 1.41 percent; recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.97 percent; food and beverage service/restaurants group by 2.09 percent; and personal care and other services group by 2.48 percent. Meanwhile, the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group experienced deflation by 0.23 percent; and the information, communication, and financial services group also experienced deflation by 0.10 percent, while the education group did not experience any change in the price index (stable).

The month-to-month inflation rate for April 2024 recorded inflation of 0.74 percent, and the year-to-date inflation rate for the calendar year was 2.55 percent.
