Abstract

In February 2023 in Palopo City there was year on year (yoy) inflation of 5.13 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 113.73.
Inflation occurs because of an increase in prices indicated by an increase cumulative price index of all expenditure groups. On a yoy basis, on a monthly basis February 2023 ten expenditure groups experienced inflation, including: the Food, Beverage and Tobacco Group by 7.65 percent; Group Clothing and Footwear by 1.41 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel by 2.03 percent; Equipment Group, Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance of 2.46 percent; Group Health by 0.72 percent; Transportation Group by 14.10 percent; Recreation, Sports and Culture Group by 0.89 percent; Group Education by 3.32 percent; Food and Beverage Provision Group/Restaurants by 2.88 percent; and Group Personal Care and Other Services by 2.28 percent. As for one other group, namely the Information group Communications and Financial Services experienced a deflation of 0.04 percent.
The February 2023 month-to-month (mtm) inflation rate recorded inflation of 0.06 percent and the calendar year/year to date (ytd) inflation rate of 0.56 percent.
The highest yoy inflation occurred in Makassar City at 5.72 percent with CPI of 114.66 while the lowest yoy inflation was in Bulukumba of 4.53 percent with a CPI of 114.24
