The Development of the Consumer Price Index / Inflation in Palopo Municipality, August 2024

In August 2024, Palopo City experienced a year-on-year (YoY) inflation of 2.13% with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.78.

This inflation was due to price increases, as indicated by the rising accumulated index of several expenditure groups. YoY, in August 2024, several expenditure groups experienced inflation: Food, beverages, and tobacco by 4.47%; clothing and footwear by 0.32%; household furnishings, equipment, and routine maintenance by 0.56%; health by 0.05%; transportation by 1.78%; recreation, sports, and culture by 0.42%; food and beverage services/restaurants by 1.92%; and personal care and other services by 3.70%. Meanwhile, the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels group experienced deflation of 0.21%; and the information, communication, and financial services group also experienced deflation of 0.89%, while the education group experienced no change in the price index (stable).

The month-on-month (MoM) inflation rate in August 2024 recorded a deflation of 0.21%, and the year-to-date (YTD) inflation rate was 1.51%.
