Abstract

In January 2024 in Palopo City there will be year on year (yoy) inflation of 2.10 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.70.

Inflation occurs due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the accumulated price index for several expenditure groups. On a yoy basis, in January 2024 several expenditure groups experienced inflation: The food, beverage and tobacco group at 4.93 percent; clothing and footwear group by 1.36 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group at 0.34 percent; health group by 0.01 percent; transportation group at 0.77 percent; recreation, sports and culture group at 1.45 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group at 1.46 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 2.10 percent. Meanwhile, in the housing group, water, electricity and household fuel experienced deflation of 0.22 percent; and the information, communication and financial services group also experienced deflation of 0.09 percent and the education group saw no change in the price index (stable).

The month to month (mtm) inflation rate for January 2024 recorded inflation of 0.47 percent and the calendar year inflation rate/year to date (ytd) inflation of 0.47 percent.
