Abstract

In December 2023 in Palopo City there will be year on year (yoy) inflation of 2.21 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.60.

Inflation occurs due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the accumulated price index for several expenditure groups. On a yoy basis, in December 2023 several expenditure groups experienced inflation: The food, beverage and tobacco group at 4.46 percent; clothing and footwear group by 1.07 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group at 0.08 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group of 0.65 percent; health group by 0.01 percent; transportation group by 1.37 percent; recreation, sports and culture group at 1.52 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group at 1.23 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 2.80 percent. Meanwhile, the information, communication and financial services group experienced deflation of 0.12 percent and the education group saw no change in the price index (stable).

The month to month (mtm) inflation rate for December 2023 was recorded at 0.50 percent and the calendar year inflation rate/year to date (ytd) inflation was 2.21 percent.
