Abstract

In August 2023 in Palopo City there will be year on year (yoy) inflation of 3.13 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.02.

Inflation occurs due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the accumulated price index for several expenditure groups. On a yoy basis, in August 2023 all expenditure groups experienced inflation: the food, beverage and tobacco group at 3.90 percent; clothing and footwear group at 1.11 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group at 0.27 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group at 0.47 percent; health group at 0.41 percent; transportation group by 11.60 percent; information, communication and financial services group at 0.02 percent; recreation, sports and culture group at 1.52 percent; education group of 0.10 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group at 0.93 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 1.94 percent.

The month-to-month (mtm) inflation rate for August 2023 was recorded as deflation of 0.23 percent and the year-to-date (ytd) inflation rate of 1.70 percent.
