Abstract

In March 2023 in Palopo City there was year on year (yoy) inflation of 5.79 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 114.71. Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the accumulated price index of several expenditure groups. On a yoy basis, in March 2023 ten expenditure groups experienced inflation, including: the Food, Beverage and Tobacco Group by 9.02 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group by 1.37 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group by 1.79 percent; Equipment, Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance Group by 2.28 percent; Health Group by 0.72 percent; Transportation Group at 14.24 percent; Recreation, Sports and Culture Group by 1.66 percent; Education Group by 3.32 percent; Food and Beverage/Restaurant Provision Group by 2.55 percent; and the Personal Care and Other Services Group of 1.58 percent. One other group, namely the Information, Communication and Financial Services group, experienced a deflation of 0.03 percent.

The month to month (mtm) inflation rate in March 2023 recorded inflation of 0.86 percent and the calendar year inflation rate/year to date (ytd) inflation was 1.42 percent.

The highest yoy inflation occurred in Makassar City at 5.99 percent with a CPI of 115.52 while the lowest yoy inflation was in Bulukumba of 3.77 percent with a CPI of 114.68.
